Basic Installation of UBUNTU:
Why to use Ubuntu ?
Good question . . . ! I browsed many
site and distribution download, Ubuntu is not only popular among the
LAPTOP users but also available on 1 CD. I thought installing
multiple utilities/application for same task does not make sense
while downloading the OS. Since the CD is also live CD I could get a
complete feel of the OS when booting from CD and I decided to give
it a try.
With OpenOfice.Org I am clear I
must shift to Linux . . .

Setting up additional features for
Ubuntu
Ubuntu comes with only Open Source
softwares ie UBUNTU is NOT
supplied with the plugins/softwares which runs propritery formats
like mp3 and many more such formats. If you have internet connection
through ethernet/wireless I recommend to first install “easyubuntu”
which installs useful plugins from repository. I could not get
internet connection started on my laptop and had to do things hard
way.

I fell in love with ubuntu but with Internet not working on my
Laptop I would need to shift to other flavor. Mepis is what I tried next and have also tried OpenSuse. While I am happy using ubuntu.
